Happiness & Architecture
Happiness and Architecture showcases how developments such as improvements in the quality of life, were explored in the building of Gas Natural Fenosa in Barcelona (1999-2006). And subsequently proposed again in numerous other emblematic ‘not that tall’ projects which followed. Often throughout other culturally diverse parts of the world, most notable of which being the design for a large banking headquarters in Taiwan, the ChinaTrust Tower in Taiwan´s Taichung (2013-2018).
The exhibition displays for the first time an unpublished selection of models, drawings, and photographs from the archives of the Fundació Enric Miralles and the architecture studio Miralles Tagliabue EMBT. Projects included were designed to occupy urban spaces, large and small, exploring and speculating the vertical expansion of urban dwellings, in an age in which high density living is becoming a normality. Projects which sought to enrich the skyline, whilst respecting the social and ecological environment of their surroundings.
