BCN Re(SET)
The BCN RE.SET was inaugurated in April 2014 at the Parc de la Ciutadella. Inspired by the old wall of Barcelona and its subsequent destruction, symbolizing the recovery of the city by democracy and its citizens. This central idea of reconstruction and destruction of the old city´s wall (and other walls of the world) gave way to the creation of six further ephemeral installations designed by six international architects in collaboration with leading schools of architecture and design from across Barcelona.
For the first time, Barcelona´s architecture schools worked together on a collective project, an educational, architectural, and artistic initiative of immense symbolic value. Showcasing globally the contemporary relevance and importance of one of the city’s key historical transformations.
Installations included:
The Library of Lost Books - designed by Anupama Kundoo in collaboration with the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia.
Diversity - designed by the Odille Decq in collaboration with Recetas Urbanas.
Democracy - designed by Yael Reisner and Peter Cook with the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona.
Europe - designed by Urban Think Thank in collaboration with Barcelona International University of Catalonia. Identity - designed by Urbanus in collaboration with La Salle.
Ciutadella – designed by Benedetta Tagliabue and Alex Ollé in collaboration with the Institute of Theatre.
