Conversations and Allusions

Conversations and Allusions: Enric Miralles, by Caterine Spellman, 1st edition Actar Publications.

Enric Miralles (1955-2000) remains one of the most outstanding architects of his generation. The importance of his architectural design lies in his seamless integration of place and building and his use of space in the service of everyday living conditions. In less than twenty-five years of professional practice, Miralles designed more than 150 projects, many of which are already built, such as the Scottish Parliament buildings, the Santa Caterina market, the University of Vigo, the Diagonal Mar park, the Alicante Gymnastics Centre and the Igualada cemetery. The book Conversaciones y alusiones, Enric Miralles brings together unpublished essays and lectures by his former collaborators and friends. Each of the contributors to this timely publication offers a unique insight into Miralles' practice of architecture as a way of creating positive change in the world.

With contributions by Benedetta Tagliabue, Elías Torres, Peter Buchanan, Josep Quetglas, Sir Peter Cook, Juan José Lahuerta, Carles Muro, Elena Cánovas, Manuel Bailo, Teresa Galí-Izard, Maurici Pla, Eva Prats and Elena Rocchi.
